My Typographic Portrait

3:25:00 PM

Second semester started out fine but it gave me no time to update my blog and even work on my online gigs at fiverr. I think I've mentioned in one of my previous posts that I'd take our IT Special Project this sem or what you call thesis. It is so tedious especially the documentation which I really hate, but I have no choice but to do it. For times like this, I need an icebreaker. Besides watching movies and tv series, reading books and spending time with family and my boyfriend, there's this one where I was able to test my creativity.

That's what I did for our project in Multimedia. The theme was "Personal" and your photo must be included in the poster. We were required to pass it printed to a size of 12 x 18 in. so that the professor can appreciate it more, I think. I made this the night before the deadline so I spent the whole night working on it. Initially, I wanted to make a movie inspired poster, specifically inspired by one of The Hunger Games movie poster. Unfortunately, I don't have a good photo where I am on my side view that I can use for the poster. I wanted to express my love for movies and books with that poster as well as my admiration for kick-ass heroines. I depict myself as a strong woman and I wanted to show and express it by that poster. Since I could not do it, I just searched for some typography inspired ones. I came across this tutorial of Typographic Portrait like Grammy's Posters.

My first attempt was unimpressive and it didn't look like me in the picture. Although I followed the instructions carefully, I couldn't come up with a good result because I am not that skilled and it needed to be more detailed in the editing. My eyes were already tired and eyelids started to feel heavy. I needed to finish it that night so I added my personal touch instead to create something more like me.

I am happy with the result. The words I used are those virtues I believe in. I would have used more words but it took a lot of time to finish everything. I really enjoyed working on my poster and the other exercises we did. They emerged the creativity in me! :)

  1. Nice! Your work was shown in front of the class but you weren't there to present it. Well it's a good thing you weren't there. We were asked to show our talents in front of the class. I was forced to sing. It was humiliating.

By the way, sir likes your work. :)

    1. Thanks! I was actually inspired to post about my work after I read your entry. We'll talk about the 'talent portion' when I see you in class. :)
